Hello, my name is Steph Gregory, I am 23 years old and I am a Hospitality Business Management Student who is currently studying at The University of Huddersfield.
This blog will cover a wide range of topics surrounding Food Culture and Society. I have always had an interest in the food and beverage industry as I have worked in many different roles within this industry including bar staff within a busy local pub, Commi waiter in hotel and Front of House team member in a busy town restaurant and sports bar. I therefore feel that it would be beneficial if I was to share my opinions and knowledge on the different areas of food and beverage that I have gained over the years with others.
Some examples of these topics include: Food allergens and how they affect people in their everyday life, the history of alcohol and food pairings and all the different foods that originate in different cultures. I will also discuss the motivations that consumers have for experiencing different menu types as well as different service styles amongst other topics.
The first blog that I will be writing will cover how Food Allergens affect everyday life and how society and businesses provide for all 14 allergens. I hope you find what I have to say interesting and that it gives you an insight into food culture and society.
